
Screening
The purpose of screening is to identify those policies that are likely to have a significant impact on equality of opportunity so that greatest resources can be devoted to these. In order to achieve this, a systematic review of policy is required.
Arts and Older People - Equality Impact Assessment
An Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) is a thorough and systematic analysis of a policy. Its purpose is to improve the work of the Arts Council by making sure we promote equality and do not discriminate.
The assessment makes reference to the nine equality categories as defined by Section 75:
The EQIA determines if the policy has any negative impact on any of the nine categories and an alternative to the policy to achieve the promotion of equality of opportunity. In fulfillment of our obligations, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is carrying out an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) on the Arts and Older People strategy. The Arts Council welcomes comment on the strategy and its impact in respect of the nine categories of persons identified in Section 75. A copy of the EQIA document and strategy is available below.
