Niall Murphy Scoops Top Prize

Niall Murphy has won the All-Ireland Fiddle title at Fleadh Ceoil na h’Eireann in Cavan. 

This accolade tops an amazing year for Niall as his traditional group ‘loscaid’ won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award back in February 2012.

The traditional musician from Carnlough was the recipient of an Artists Career Enhancement Programme (ACES) grant from the Arts Council in 2011 for a programme of development with The Armagh Pipers Club.

The Artists Career Enhancement Programme (ACES) aims to identify and support future artistic champions by helping them to deliver new creative work and further their professional career. This initiative has been devised to provide career developmental opportunities for artists working in literature, music, visual, performing and participatory arts.

In addition to receiving a bursary of £5,000 each, artists will be partnered with a professional arts organisation to receive mentoring and development support to help them deliver original, challenging and innovative work.
