Head of Business Development (37 hours per week)

Cardiff

Salary - £35,415 – £44,545

The Head of Business Development is a key role within the Arts Council of Wales.  The postholder will co-ordinate and provide high quality advice and services that will help our major arts organisations to develop their business and organisational capability. An important part of this is the monitoring and analysis of arts organisations’ performance, diagnosing the business challenges that they face and offering practical solutions that help them to meet those challenges. Another major area of this developmental activity is the provision of monitoring, support and technical expertise to underpin effective management of our Lottery Capital programme and the delivery of capital projects.

We are looking for an individual who has an enthusiasm for the arts, sound business skills and the creativity to find imaginative solutions to organisational challenges.  Significant financial and business literacy is essential, along with the ability to assess, diagnose and address financial, managerial and operational issues.  A sound knowledge of financial management, business planning and marketing, and a familiarity of the legislative framework affecting organisations and their business practices are also key requirements for this role. The successful candidate will have proven experience of initiating, developing and implementing policy/procedures, governance and risk management. They will also have a working knowledge of the processes and skills needed to successfully manage capital projects.

Information Advisor (Part Time – 18.5 hours per week – mornings or afternoons)

Are you enthusiastic about the Arts? Are you an exceptional administrator? Do you have a great telephone manner and an appetite for fantastic customer service? Can you speak and write fluently in both Welsh and English? Do you like to “know what’s going on”?

If you can say “Yes” to all of the above then you could be joining our new Helpdesk team. 

This new service will provide high quality information and advice about our funding programmes and activities, as well as coordinating bookable funding surgeries across Wales. You’ll handle a wide range of telephone and email enquiries from artists, organisations and the public, as well as front of house contact at our national office in Cardiff. You’ll use your experience of working in a similar helpdesk environment and understanding of grant-making to resolve queries effectively or to find the right specialist colleagues to give the advice that’s needed.  Your ever-expanding knowledge will enable you to research and create funding guidance materials and ‘how to’ guides.

Fluency in Welsh (both written and spoken) is essential for this post.

PA/Team Co-ordinator (Finance & Human Resources) (37 hours per week)
(Cardiff)

£17,798 – 23,136 per annum

Personal Assistant to the Director (Finance and Resources) and administrative support to the HR Officer, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation and co-ordination of meetings, papers and reports along with maintaining the HR information system and dealing with routine administration and queries.

You will be the principal contact for the Director and HR Officer, providing cover and ensuring that all correspondence is effectively managed.  You will be responsible for diary management and arranging and administering various events from conferences to training as required.

The successful candidate will be fluent in Welsh (both written and spoken) and possess excellent customer service skills to deal with the public, internal staff and external clients and be effective in managing these relationships appropriately. An understanding of the responsibilities associated with supporting senior members of staff and handling confidential and sensitive information is essential, along with a familiarity of governance and accountability.  A basic awareness of HR processes and procedures would be desired, along with a high standard of IT skills, diplomacy and ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

We are looking for exceptional individuals who have the confidence and expertise to work across a range of arts disciplines.  These include the performing arts, visual arts and crafts, digital and broadcast arts.  We are also interested in individuals with expertise in training, local government and regeneration.

Successful candidates will have a breadth of arts expertise and the confidence to manage teams of arts specialists.  They will also have experience of management at a senior level and the practical skills to ensure that our arts development strategies are successfully delivered.
