The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is currently in the process of developing a Youth Arts Strategy for the period 2011 to 2016. As part of this, we want to ensure it reflects the views, needs and opinions of as many children and young people as possible. To enable this we have set up a range of engagement opportunities, one of which is an on-line survey.
The survey is targeted at 10 to 25 year olds and we would welcome your support in encouraging as many children and young people to complete it as possible. In particular, it would be helpful if you could advertise the link (provided below) in any publication targeted at or likely to reach children and young people in this age range. This might include an e-newsletter, Twitter or Facebook page. The survey will close on Monday 7th March 2011.
More information about the consultation, including a link to the on-line survey can be found by clicking here. We are keen to ensure that anyone completing the survey or participating in the wider research is kept informed on the strategies process, so we will post regular updates on this page, together with the results of our survey work.
This survey forms part of a wider consultation process with children and young people facilitated through a range of organisations working in an arts and non-arts contexts. To date, this has included VOYPIC (Voice of Young People in Care), Youth Action and the Youth Arts Co-Operative. This work has been undertaken with the help of Participation Network to ensure our engagement is as effective and appropriate as possible.
In addition to this young persons survey we anticipate developing a generic survey for use by any organisation or individual who would like to have their voice heard at the strategy development stage.
