Youth Arts Sector Meeting 2011

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland will be delivering their annual Youth Arts Sector Meeting this year for the first time in Derry City at the Playhouse in Artillery Street.

The date for the meeting will be Thursday the 26th May 2011, 10.30am and 4.00pm.

The theme for this years meeting will be What constitutes a youth led arts project.A number of presentations and participant discussion will provide a platform for an exploration and discussion on:

• How arts organizations involve young people from the planning stages onwards.
• How the process of actively involving young people is managed.
• How can the artistic process and associated administration ensure that issues and interests are addressed; empowerment and ownership are achieved and young people are supported to reach their full potential.

The sector meeting will also provide an update on the Arts Council review of youth arts and the development of a new Youth Arts Strategy 2011-2016.

Presentations will be made by WheelWorks, Interact Youth Arts Festival, The Playhouse, PLACE and YouthAction.

I would encourage you to pencil in the 26th May 2011 for what promises to be an interesting and informative event.
