The Big Arts Give

08/12/2010

There are just three days left for you to support your favourite local arts organisation by making an online donation to 'The Big Arts Give', the new challenge fund launched by Arts & Business with an initial fund of at least 500,000. The Big Arts Give is pledging to potentially double any donation you make to the participating organisations in Northern Ireland: National Trust, Queen's University Foundation (Queen's Film Theatre), The Crescent Arts Centre, Ulster Orchestra, Ulster Youth Choir and Walled City Music Trust.

With support from publin funding, building has commmenced at An Chulturlann premises in the heart of west Belfast's Irish Lamguage community.

(L-R) Heather Wright, Ulster Orchestra; Majella Hollywood, Ulster Youth Choir; Sarah Hughes, QFT; Wendy Elliott, National Trust and Mary Trainor-Nagele, Arts & Business.

In partnership with UK philanthropist Alec Reed and his Big Give website, Arts & Business has designed The Big Arts Give to dramatically reanimate individual cultural philanthropy in this challenging economic period. With the potential to double online pledges through the challenge fund there is no better time than the present to support your local arts sector.

Charitable arts and cultural organisations across the UK are taking part and together aim to raise at least 1m in private sector pledges, which could subsequently result in 3m being donated to these charities by Christmas. Plus the Gift Aid too!

To pledge your donation, go to www.thebiggive.org.uk. But be quick.

Arts & Business NI is principally funded by the Arts Council.
