The Arts Council is the lead agency for the development of the arts in Northern Ireland. We are the main support for artists and arts organisations, offering a broad range of funding opportunities through our Exchequer and National Lottery funds. We have a number of vacancies within our current structure and a number of short term posts to deliver specific arts initiatives. We are therefore inviting applications for the following:

Arts Support Officer (Ref: 06/03) Full time, permanent post. Salary range £14,321 - £19,913 pa. The Arts Support Officer provides general administrative support within the Council including preparation of briefing papers and reports, assisting with the Council’s grant schemes, maintenance of the Council’s databases and providing initial advice to clients on procedures. Applicants must be educated to at least ‘A’ Level or equivalent with English (Language) and Mathematics to at least GCSE (Grades A-C) or equivalent. They must have at least 2 years full time administrative experience gained within the last 4 years in a post involving project and/or scheme administration and records maintenance (including computerised databases).

Assistant Finance Officer (Ref: 06/04) Full time, permanent post. Salary range £14,321 - £19,913 pa. The Assistant Finance Officer will report to the Finance Manager and will be responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective provision of a comprehensive finance function within the Arts Council. Applicants must be educated to at least ‘A’ Level standard or equivalent and must have at least 5 GCSE (Grades A-C) 2 of which must be English (Language) and Mathematics, or equivalent. They must have at least 2 years full time experience gained within the last 4 years in a finance administrative role including working with computerised accounting systems and the preparation of financial reports.

Strategic Planning Officer (Ref: 06/05) Full time, permanent post Salary range £20,031 - £28,759 pa. The Strategic Planning Officer will be responsible to the Director of Strategic Development for the preparation and monitoring of the Council’s 3-year Corporate and 1-year Business Plans. He/she will also liaise with clients in co-ordinating arts planning across the sector. Applicants must have a third level qualification and at least 2 years full time experience, gained within the last 4 years, in a business planning environment. They will have been involved in the development, drafting and reporting upon strategic and corporate plans, ideally in a public sector environment.

Human Resources Officer (Ref: 06/06) Part time (18.5hrs pw), permanent post. Salary range £20,031 - £28,759 pa (pro-rata). The postholder will support the Director of Corporate Services in the development and implementation of the Council’s HR policies and procedures including recruitment and selection, training and development, and performance management. Applicants must have a third level qualification and a minimum of CIPD membership at licentiate level or equivalent. They must have the equivalent of at least 2 years full-time experience gained within the last 5 years in a personnel related working environment.

Arts Development Officer: Festivals and Venues (Ref: 06/07) Full time, temporary post (2 yrs). Salary range £18,958 - £28,759 pa. The postholder will be responsible to an Arts Development Manager for a portfolio of clients who run arts venues or arts festivals. Duties will include assessment of applications, building relationships with the relevant sectors, monitoring performance and providing reports to the Council. Applicants must have a third level qualification and at least 2 years full time experience gained within the last 4 years in an arts management role.

‘Troubles’ Archivist (Ref: 06/08) Part time (18.5hrs pw), temporary post (2-3 yrs). Salary range £20,031 - £24,899 pa (pro-rata). The postholder will be reporting directly to the Arts Development Director and will be responsible for cataloguing the responses of artists to the ‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland. Applicants must have a third level qualification and evidence of at least 2 substantive pieces of research, preferably undertaken within the arts and cultural sector, within the last 4 years.

Capital Projects Officer (Ref: 06/09) Full time, temporary post (3 yrs). Salary range £24,804 - £31,025 The arts infrastructure in Northern Ireland has been boosted substantially by funding from DCAL through the Arts Council. The postholder will be responsible for liaising with clients - overseeing their major capital projects and monitoring progress. Applicants must have an appropriate third level qualification in architecture, civil engineering or equivalent, and must have at least 2 years full time experience gained within the last 5 years in project managing major capital projects.
