Call for Artists …
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland wishes to compile a database of artists who would be interested in facilitating projects through the recently announced Re-imaging Communities Programme.
Re-Imaging Communities is a three year programme that will help all communities in urban and rural areas to focus on positive ways to express who they are and what culture means to them. The programme aims to replace divisive murals and emblems with positive images and to develop mural art and public art such as sculpture, street furniture and mosaic. In order to help achieve a peaceful, inclusive and stable society, we believe that communities and agencies need to work together to remove the barriers, such as flags, emblems and offensive murals, which divide communities and act as a source of conflict.
This programme will encourage local communities to work creatively in tackling these issues, connecting the arts and artists to areas not usually associated with them and allowing art to enrich communities. They will be locally tailored and community driven.
If you are a practising artist and feel that you could help communities to develop their creative potential, please forward your Curriculum Vitae (CV) which MUST include the following:
Name Date of Birth Education – name and dates of second/ third level institutions attended and qualifications gained; specialist training and related qualifications should also be included in this section. Employment history – starting with the most recent – name of employer, dates of employment, job title, brief description History of artistic practice – starting with the most recent examples – including prizes, nominations, awards, commissions, major exhibitions/performances, publications, etc. Do not provide unnecessary narrative but include name of work you were nominated for
Along with your CV you must also send us a statement of no more than 200 words outlining your experience of working in a community context to:

Please note that by submitting your CV the Arts Council cannot guarantee that you will receive any work. Your details will be kept on file until March 2009 and will be forwarded to any applicant of the Re-imaging Communities Programme if requested. The applicant may then contact with you to discuss possible work. If any of your contact details change please remember to inform us.
