Review of Arts Council's Five Year Plan 2001-2006

Introduction

A key priority of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the development of its future Strategic Plan for the 2006 – 2011 period. The Council wishes to move forward in developing its future strategy in a way that draws on the strengths and lessons learned from the implementation of its 2001-2006 plan - The Arts: Inspiring the Imagination, Building the Future.

A two stage approach has been adopted for development of the Council’s future strategy, namely:

  • Stage 1 – a review of performance against the 2001-2006 plan; and
  • Stage 2 – preparation of future strategy for the Council drawing on lessons learned.

Focusing on Stage 1, the Council is seeking views on its key impacts and achievements over the period of the plan with a view to measuring how well it has delivered the strategic objectives set out in The Arts: Inspiring the Imagination, Building the Future. The findings from this review will then be used to inform the future strategic policy and direction of the Council. Further input will be sought from the arts and cultural sector at that stage.

Consultation Meetings and Focus Groups

A series of consultation meetings and focus groups have been scheduled with key stakeholders including the Council’s clients in order to discuss performance against the 2001-2006 plan. Invites have been issued for these and the meetings are scheduled to take place during October 2005.
