Arts Council Bursaries For Prestigious National Arts Fundraising School The prestigious National Arts Fundraising School is being hosted in Belfast for the first time January 27th until February 1st 2002 McCausland Hotel In recognition of the demand for this specialist training and the strong competition for funding which exists in the sector, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is offering FIVE BURSARIES to arts-focused organisations from parts of Northern Ireland other than Belfast, each to the value of £1,300, to assist with course fees. The six-day intensive residential course provides an outstanding grounding in strategic fundraising skills for the arts and cultural sector, working with delegates to develop practical solutions to their unique fundraising challenges. Belfast City Council is providing nine bursaries within Belfast and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland is providing five bursaries for all other areas of Northern Ireland. The Management Centre has been running the National Arts Fundraising School twice a year since 1998. It has rapidly become the most successful fundraising programme for arts organisations in the UK. During the course, participants will cover up to 16 different tailored modules - the selection is based upon the results of a pre-course questionnaire. Modules may include researching sources, raising money for local authority projects, improving promotional material, sponsorship pitches, business sponsorship versus company giving, effective proposal writing, or relationship fundraising. Participants will have access to the National Arts Fundraising School library of books, CDs and databases containing key fundraising sources, and will each receive a copy of the NAFS Workbook, the most comprehensive documentation available to fundraisers in the arts. The school will be run by two key tutors, including Bernard Ross, Director of the Management Centre, who has acted as fundraising consultant to a wide range of organisations from the British Film Institute to the National Trust and from UNESCO to the Swedish Ministry of Culture.
