Funding

We will award over £13 million to arts projects throughout Northern Ireland this year.

The Arts Council is the development agency for the arts in Northern Ireland

We are the main support for artists and arts organisations, offering a broad range of funding opportunities through our Exchequer and National Lottery funds.

We work in partnership with hundreds of artists, arts organisations and venues.

From theatre and literature to art in the community, we work in partnership with hundreds of artists, arts organisations and venues to deliver great art to more people every year.

Our five year strategy document, “Creative Connections”, outlines the key aims and objectives of the Arts Council. This document is an important starting point for artists and arts organisations seeking financial assistance as it outlines our current funding priorities.

Detailed funding policies and guidelines for individual artforms can be found in The Arts section of this website.

The Arts Council also maintains a small Arts Development Fund. This is not open to application, but is used by the Council to fund strategic arts initiatives throughout the year.

We would encourage potential applicants to read all the guidance notes provided before submitting an application for funding.

Please note: It is the responsibility of all applicants to ensure that they are using the most up-to-date funding application forms. Guidance notes or Applications forms downloaded before programme opening dates may not be current.

If you are seeking funding for film-making, this has been delegated to Northern Ireland Screen.

Contact details for other funding bodies may be found on our useful links page.
