Exciting opportunities in the performing arts

for young people in Northern Ireland

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland today launched a new handbook highlighting the wide range and quality of opportunities currently available to young people in the performing arts.

The handbook lists brand new as well as existing initiatives from youth organisations in Northern Ireland. These include workshops, concerts and residential courses in classical and traditional music, jazz, contemporary dance and drama by the Ulster Youth Orchestra, Ulster Youth Choir, Ulster Youth Dance Summer School, Aisling Óige, Aisling Ghéar’s Irish language drama project for the young, and the Ulster Association of Youth Drama. The handbook also details year-round activities throughout the region.

Playing your pART was launched at the Palm House, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, in conjunction with Other Worlds, Young At Art’s Festival Programme 2000. The joint launch was attended by a number of youth arts groups, community groups, arts organisations and artists.
