Elizabeth Magill was born in Canada but came to live in Cushendall, County Antrim from an early age. She studied at Belfast College of Art from 1979-82 and went on to the Slade School of Fine Art until 1984. She now lives and works in London. Magill is a primarily a painter although she is incorporated photographic materials and processes into her work and has sometimes used video. Her first major solo show was at the Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol in 1990. She participated in the ‘British Art Show’, also in 1990, and since then has had one-person shows in Ireland, Britain, Germany, France and Spain. Magill is represented in many public and private collections including those of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Ulster Museum and British Council.
