Painter, printmaker, sculptor and installation artist, Barbara Freeman studied at St Martin’s, Camberwell and Hammersmith Colleges of Art and at the University of Leeds. She made sculpture until the early 80s when she changed her emphasis to painting and printmaking. Recently she has collaborated with contemporary composers developing ways to transpose their musical structures into visual structures in colour and spaces, for example, in the exhibition In Parallel, part of the 1998 Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music at Queen’s University, Belfast which was shown in the Ormeau Baths Gallery in Belfast. Freeman has had numerous solo exhibitions and awards and is represented in many private, corporate and public collections.
