Mary Farl Powers was born in Minnesota, USA in 1948, daughter of the American author J F Powers. On coming to Ireland, she studied at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and the National College of Art. She exhibited her work from the early 70s and was printmaker-in-residence at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. She became a member of Aosdana in 1981 and died in 1992. The Irish Museum of Modern Art held a major retrospective of her work in 1995.
