Brendan Ellis (b.1951)

Brendan Ellis studied at the Ulster Polytechnic from 1973-74 and obtained an MA at the Royal College of Art, London in 1977. He is a figurative painter who uses oils, drawing and printmaking in his work. One of the main themes in his work is that of urban deprivation and physical encroachment in inner city environments. He has had solo shows at the Kerlin Gallery, Belfast, Orchard Gallery, Belfast and Tom Caldwell Gallery, Belfast. Ellis has worked on community arts projects and was commissioned in 1992 to produce work for the Art in Hospitals project at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
