Charles Brady was born in the United States in 1926 and came to Ireland in the 1960s. He tutored at the National College of Art and Design, was the recipient of numerous awards including the Douglas Hyde gold medal in the Oireachtas in 1974 and the Carroll prize in the Irish Exhibition of Living Art. He exhibited widely in Dublin. Brady specialised in still life subjects of a minimalist type with a small number of elements which he interpreted with great intensity.
