Painter and performance artist Martin Wedge was born in Belfast in 1958. He completed his MA in Fine Art at the University of Ulster in 1982. He describes his work as being in the tradition of expressionism with its roots in Art Brut. In 1985 Wedge received an award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to study with Sandro Chia in New York for a year. He has had solo exhibitions at the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast, the Kerlin Gallery, Dublin and Triskel Arts Centre, Cork. His work has also been shown in group shows in Glasgow, Liverpool, Finland, Amsterdam and Sheffield.
