Twin brothers Joe and Pat Walker both attended the Limerick College of Art in 1984 but left after a year. Since 1987 they have been exhibiting in groups exhibitions – The Irish Exhibition of Living Art, Dublin (1987), SADE, the Municipal Gallery, Cork (1987), GPA Emerging Artists, the RHA Gallery, Dublin (1990) and the Kerlin Gallery, Dublin (1995). In 1997 they had a one-person show at the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast where they exhibited multi-media work and in 1998 and 1999 they showed their work in San Francisco. They describe their work as ‘a response to a culture saturated with mediocrity, banal and meaningless collections of inconsequential images …. rediscovering a certain pleasure in the irony of things, playing among the remnants of art history, we are appropriating minimalist form only to stage its loss of authority by light-heartedly deconstructing mondernist abstraction’ (artists’ statement 1997)
