Hector McDonnell (b.1947, Belfast)

Younger son of the 13^th Earl of Antrim and brought up in Glenarm, County Antrim, Hector McDonnell was educated at Eton, Oxford, Munich and Vienna. He studied sculpture in Austria from 1965-66. McDonnell won a prestigious German art competition in 1978 and, consequently, had a retrospective exhibition in Darmstadt in 1981 which comprised many of his paintings, drawings and etchings. He has travelled extensively, the locations such as Tibet and Rwanda featuring in his work. McDonnell’s work has been shown in Belfast, Dublin, Hong Kong, Hanover and Paris.
