Roisín McDonough, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, believes that the Arts Council has a compelling case to make. “Our submission for additional arts funding highlights the great contribution made by our artists and organisations to our social, economic and creative life, and the huge benefits which would result from a relatively modest increase in funding. The success of our bid will mean a ‘make-or-break’ difference to our artists and arts organisations.”
If the Arts Council’s carefully considered bid receives a favourable response from government, artists and arts organisations can look forward to working in a more stable environment. Only then will they be able to show what a potent force the arts are in the regeneration and re-profiling of Northern Ireland’s image at home and abroad.
