Arts Council annual funding for arts organisations 2005/06
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland in March allocated £10,289,556 to 131 arts organisations across Northern Ireland through its new revenue funding programmes.
The new funding arrangements were introduced by the Arts Council this year to safeguard arts organisations throughout Northern Ireland against the spending cuts to the arts announced in the Northern Ireland Budget for 2005-2006. The Annual Support for Organisations Programme (ASOP) has been re-profiled, and access to additional Lottery funds made possible through a smaller grants programme called the Multi-Annual Programme (MAP), which offers clients sustained funding over a three-year period.
To complement ASOP, which offers awards with a minimum threshold of £20,001 to organisations running programmes throughout the year, and the Studio Group Programme which offers revenue funding for artists’ collectives, MAP offers awards between £10,001 and £20,000.
Applications for less than £10,000 will be directed towards the Arts Council’s Small Awards Scheme, which opens in May 2005. Organisations seeking less than £5,000 may apply for Arts Council funding, as usual, through the Lottery ‘Awards for All’ scheme.
