North/South Theatre Touring Scheme

2004/2005

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the British Council have jointly established the North/South Theatre Touring Scheme to facilitate and extend opportunities for theatre companies to tour their work throughout Ireland. The scheme is funded by both Councils, and grants are to cover the marginal costs of cross-border touring.

The Councils invite applications for touring from:

Sept. 2004 to March 2005. Deadline for receipt of applications is 4.00pm on Thursday 25th March 2004.

The scheme

• is open to theatre companies based in Northern Ireland who are currently in receipt of ASOP funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
• will cover marginal costs of touring to venues across the border and will not necessarily apply to all venues.

Criteria

• The proposed tour must include at least two venues in the South.
  
• The applicant must show clearly all details of the proposed tour, both artistic and financial.
  
• The applicant must show clearly that the proposed tour is not being currently addressed by other existing funds operated by either Council.
  
• Applicants will be expected to show clearly that they have negotiated guarantees or fees from the promoters.

Post-tour evaluation and monitoring report

Successful applicants will be expected to submit a post-event report detailing their activities and the financial outcome of the tour in the Republic of Ireland. You will have to give details of:

• The actual income and expenditure for the tour.
  
• Details of the beneficiary numbers (audiences, participants etc).
  
• Local authority venue details (if applicable)
  
• An evaluation of the tour (was it successful? Did you meet your targets? What press coverage did the tour receive? etc)
