Altered Horizons 1
Ann McNulty: Altered Horizons 1

Artists' Statement:

My Raku work gives me the freedom to investigate form and surface pattern. Usually an idea is sparked off by an emotional response to something I have seen or experienced, this then goes through an intellectual process where the idea is worked on, abstracted and becomes manifest in a ceramic form. I like to work on a large scale with deliberately simple forms onto which I apply complex surface patterns that I use to exaggerate and accentuate the forms. When working on a particular theme I always make a series of pieces sometimes in order to work the iddea through or sometimes the making takes over opening new areas of discovery.
