'Based upon my identity and where I have come from, the piece looks at the study of how I was created. Layered with references to my parents relationship and ship building, plus the materials used, it is a 'self-portrait' of my life, my journey and my cultural dualism. It was shown at the University of Ulster Summer Show in 2007 and at New Designers 2007 in London.'
Kerrie Ahern is currently in Jingdezhen, China (for three months from January 2008) to exhibit and create a new body of work at the PWS Experimental factory. She has received an International Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, which will fund this residency.
